To total a column of values in a Sharepoint DVWP use:

<xsl:value-of select="sum(/dsQueryResponse/Rows/Row/@TotalHoursWorked)" />

To do something similar in Xpath with formatting:

format-number(sum(/dsQueryResponse/Rows/Row/@TotalHoursWorked), '#,##0.00;-#,##0.00')
