Sharepoint 2010: Referencing CSS files from Masterpages

Here are some of the most common ways to reference your custom CSS for SharePoint 2010. One key change over 2007 is the ability to specify After=”corev4.css” in the CssRegistration to make sure your custom CSS is referenced after the OOTB corev4.css file.

This page cannot be edited in SharePoint Designer

If you are getting this error its because you are trying to edit a publishing page. To edit a publishing page you will need to first detach it from its ‘Master Page Layout’, now you can edit it as you wish but any changes to the master layout obviously will no longer apply to this page.
